Art Factory Center in Alexandria, VA. The painting was
accepted in the Members Monthly show for June. The Juror for this show
was the sculptor Foon Sham. The
show was open from June
9th trough July
5th.

Juan had the
honor of showing the
painting "Figures on the street" at this well known museum, where
Rennoir's "Launcheon of the boating party" exhibits permanently. Juan
also talked about his piece at reception of the
show. "Figures on the street" is part of the "Dark City"
series.
Juan tuvo el
honor de mostrar la
pintura "Figuras en la calle" en este muy reconocido museo, donde se
exhibe permanentemente la famosa obra "Almuerzo de los remeros". Juan
también brindo una breve charla sobre su obra durante la recepción de
la exhibición. "Figuras en la calle" es parte de la serie "Dark City".

2-D Figurative Art Competition Smithsonian Associates Washington, DC

Juan won
first prize in the Accuracy
Competition held by the Smithsonian Associates as part of their
month-long Smithsonian Connect with the Arts program. Participants were
given 9 0
minutes to draw a live model and were judged based on the precision of
their drawings. An awards ceremony, exhibition and reception were held
the following day in the S. Dillon Ripley Center, on Washington's
National Mall. Juan sends special thanks to his professor, Victor
Lopez, for teaching him the sight-size method so beloved by the
masters--it was his secret weapon.
Juan obtuvo
primer lugar en la
competencia de Dibujo de Exactitud organizado por los Asociados del
Smithsonian como parte del programa Smithsonian Conecta con las Artes.
A los participantes les fueron dados 90 minutos para dibujar una figura
a partir de un modelo. Los dibujos fueron juzgados a partir de la
exactitud de proporciones y medidas. La ceremonia de premiación se
realizó el día siguiente en el Centro S. Dillon Ripley en el Mall en
Washington DC. Juan agradece especialmente a su profesor, Victor López,
por sus enseñanzas en técnicas de dibujo que le ayudaron a obtener este
premio

Juan was happy to show a collection of pieces and
a slideshow of
his photography amongst fellow artists, friends and good food in this
one-day show to raise money for Arlington Art Works. For more

 This
was Juan's second year participating in this annual show. This year he
presented the triptic "About a Dream". The three-panel
painting
was designed specifically for this show, which offerstwo-by-two spaces
that must each contain a separate piece of artwork.
Este fue el

Juan participa en esta exhibición anual. El tríptico "Acerca de un
sueño" fue la obra que mostró. Esta pintura fue diseñada
